The death of pensioner Frank Bratley in Banbridge is no longer being treated as suspcious by police.

They had called for witnesses to any unusual behaviour in or around his Old Forge home, on the eastern edge of the town, after his body was found on Tuesday.

Three days after his body was discovered, a post-mortem has now been carried out to establish the exact cause of his death.

Although police did not reveal the results (or why they had believed foul play may have been a factor in the first place) they said at 12.30pm on Friday that they “are no longer treating the death of Frank Bratley as suspicious”.

The 85-year-old is understood to have been an English widower, who had lived in the town for around two decades.
