An east Belfast man who was due to be sentenced over a £1 million fraud has been admitted to hospital with heart trouble, a court has heard.

Noel Savage, 60, had previously pleaded guilty to entering an arrangement with his wife Dolores to acquire criminal property and also converting criminal property.

Dolores Savage, 59, had pleaded guilty to obtaining a money transfer by deception and fraud by abuse of her position with leading medical equipment firm Arjo Huntleigh.

The couple, from Kincora Mews, were due to be sentenced on Friday, but Gavan Duffy QC for Noel Savage told the court the defendant “had been admitted to hospital where he is being treated by a consultant cardiologist”.

Mr Justice Treacy adjourned sentencing until the court had all the relevant medical reports relating to Savage.
