Homeless man remanded in custody on disorderly behaviour charge

A homeless man, once jailed for looking at child porn in Central Library, was remanded into custody on Saturday charged with disorderly behaviour.

A police constable told Belfast Magistrates’ Court she could connect John George Kennedy Reid, 43, to the charge that he used disorderly behaviour on High Street in Belfast on Friday, adding that with 140 previous convictions, police were opposing bail on grounds that he would reoffend and had no suitable address.

His solicitor said that previous courts had accepted a bus stop near the Europa Hotel as his address, and that he “wished to apologise” for his behaviour which he cannot remember because he was drunk.

District Judge George Conner refused bail.
