A woman and child have escaped injury after a house in Lurgan was targeted by arsonists.

The blaze at Castle Lane Mews was reported to police at around 9.10pm on Sunday.

Detective Constable Lauren Edwards said: “It appears the fire was deliberately started in the living room of the unoccupied property. The flames spread and significant damage was caused.

“A woman and a child in an adjoining property were able to leave their home safely while police and fire crews dealt with the incident.

“We are appealing for information regarding this crime and would be particularly interested in speaking to anyone who was in the area at around the time the fire was reported. The number to call is 101.”
