Lisburn security alert ends with nothing untoward found

Residents evacuated for most of the day on Thursday during a security alert in Lisburn have been allowed to return to their homes.

Army experts examined a stolen car close to the Hillhall Road and a business premises in nearby Sloan Street.

A holdall discovered in the shop was found to contain nothing suspicious and the car was also given the all clear before residents were allowed to return to their homes before 11pm.

Barrack Street was closed for a time earlier on Thursday when a suspicious object was brought to the city’s police station by a member of the public.
