A 21-year-old man has been arrested following a report of vehicle theft at Twaddell Avenue in north Belfast area yesterday [March 22].
A PSNI spokesman said that shortly after 11.30pm it was reported that one man assaulted another man outside a property in the area.
“It is believed the man took the keys to a Peugeot 206 car and drove off towards the Ballygomartin Road area,” he said.
“Another man is believed to have got into the vehicle as it made off from the scene.
“At around 11:30pm, it was reported that the car was involved in a two vehicle road traffic incident at the junction of the Ballygomartin Road and the Forthriver Road area. Two men made off from the scene towards the West Circular Road area.”
The PSNI spokesman added that one man was arrested in the Moyard Parade area shortly after midnight on suspicion of vehicle hijacking.
