A 42-year-old man arrested in connection with Sunday’s murder of loyalist paramilitary John ‘Bonzer’ Boreland was released unconditionally on Tuesday night.

Ulster Defence Association (UDA) member John Boreland, 46, was shot several times with a shotgun outside his apartment on Sunday night.

Stephen Farry, the Alliance justice spokesman, said the shooting was a “reminder of the grip paramilitaries have over many communities” across Northern Ireland.
