A 37-year-old man has pleaded guilty at Banbridge Magistrates Court to six charges of possessing an extreme pornographic image.

James Smyth, Poyntzpass Road, Loughbrickland, appeared at last Thursday’s court. He faces six charges that he was in possession of an extreme pornographic image on February 16, 2014.

His barrister told the court he was going to plead guilty to all six matters.

He added that because of the nature of the charges this would be a case for a pre-sentence report. He had no record. District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, adjourned the case until August 25 so that the probation service could prepare a report.
