A member of staff at a bar in Carrickfergus has been left in a serious condition in hospital with head injuries following a gang attack.

Police said the man sustained serious head injuries after he was assaulted by a number of individuals at The Royal Oak bar in Carrickfergus on Saturday night.

Officers were called to the scene at around 9.40pm and arrested two people. A third person was arrested today.

PSNI Detective Inspector Lindsay Fisher confirmed three men aged 36, 50 and 52 are being questioned in connection with the attack.

They remained in police custody this evening while the injured man was in a serious condition in hospital.

Mr Fisher asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police.
