Man tried to set pub doorman on fire

A 23-year-old man who threw a petrol bomb at two doormen after being ejected from a bar in west Belfast was yesterday handed a six-year sentence.

Belfast Crown Court heard that after the petrol bomb hit a wall, Daniel Carlisle then poured petrol over one of the doormen and tried to set him on fire.

Branding the incident as “particularly nasty”, Judge Corinne Philpott told Carlisle, from Moyard Park in the city, that he will spend three years in custody with the remaining three years spent on supervised licence when he is released.

The incident took place outside the Trinity Lodge bar in the Turf Lodge area of Belfast on November 11, 2012.Carlisle had previously been barred from the premises.
