Men stamped on victim’s head in city centre attack

An assault victim had his head stamped on during an attack in Belfast city centre, police said.

The 46 year-old was pushed to the ground and stamped on by two men outside a shoe shop on High Street at around 9.30pm on Thursday.

He was taken to hospital with serious facial and head injuries and his condition was said to be stable on Friday morning.

Both of the attackers are described as having shaved heads. One is understood to have been wearing a stripy shirt and the other a blue shirt

A police spokeswoman said: “Detectives believe there would have been a number of people in the High Street area at the time of the assault and they are keen to hear from witnesses. They can be contacted at Musgrave CID by calling the new non-emergency number 101.”
