The PSNI has revealed that it has now arrested and charged nine people in relation to disorderly behaviour and provocative conduct following disorder in Coleraine on 1 July.

The trouble centred on the Pates Lane area, a major parade having taken place in the town that evening. All nine people will appear in Coleraine Magistrates Court later this month.

Operation Chimera began on Monday but has been in the planning phase for the last number of weeks, police said.

Officers have been collecting and assessing evidence since the start of July as well as coordinating the resourcing of the operation.

Police said today that more arrests are expected to follow but are keen that anyone with information in relation to the disorder continues to contact them on the 101 number or anonymously via Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
