Police launch murder investigation in Newtownards
The victim, aged in his 20s, was found by police lying on the ground as they responded to a report of an assault.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police can confirm that the man who died following an assault on Bangor Road in Newtownards early this morning was 24 year old Richard Miskelly from the Newtownards area.”

Hide AdThe officer leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Justyn Galloway from Serious Crime Branch said: “Shortly after 5.30am police responded to a report that a man had been assaulted outside a house in the area. A man, aged in his 20’s, was discovered lying on the road.
“He was treated by Ambulance staff but died at the scene a short time later. A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course to help determine the cause of death.
“Two males, both aged 19, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody at this time.
“This incident has resulted in the tragic death of a young man and I would ask anyone in the community who knows anything about the circumstances leading up to this incident, or saw or heard an altercation in the area of Bangor Road in Newtownards, to contact police and give us this information.
