Police have arrested three people after suspected cannabis plants worth an estimated £150,000 were seized during a search in Ballymena yesterday.
The plants were discovered when local officers noticed suspicious activity while on town centre patrol.
The neighbourhood officers carried out the search in the Cullybackey Road area yesterday afternoon.
They seized the plants and arrested three people on suspicion of possession of class B drugs with intent to supply, and cultivating a class B drug.
Announcing the seizure, Detective Chief Inspector Bob Blemmings said: “This is an example of excellent on-the-ground policing which has resulted in a large quantity of drugs being taken out of circulation.
“We know that drugs are an issue of concern to people in Ballymena and PSNI have been working with the local community to tackle drug dealers head on.
“All illegal drugs are dangerous and can have a devastating impact on individuals, families and our communities.
“That is why we need those communities to continue to support us in tackling drug dealing.
“I would ask anyone who has any information in relation to illegal drugs to contact police.”
