Second hoax alert puts Carrickfergus residents out of their homes

Up to 30 residents in Carrickfergus were evacuated for the second time in 24 hours amid a security alert.

Army bomb experts were in attendance at Broadlands Gardens in the northeast of the town but the alert was later declared a hoax.

A security alert on Sunday ended at around 9pm after controlled explosions were carried out on two objects. It was also declared an elaborate hoax.
