Stolen BMWs from Republic among 16 vehicles recovered in police raid

BMW cars were among those seized in a search by police this week.

The PSNI said that 16 vehicles in total had been recovered from premises on the Crossan Road, Newry, and that a number of them are believed to have been stolen.

The two BMWs have been confirmed as being stolen in the Republic of Ireland.

Other makes found by police include Mercedes, Citroen, Saab and Chrysler.

A lorry, tools, engine parts and documents were also seized by police in the operation, which took place on Monday.

A 29-year-old man was arrested, and was yesterday said to be assisting police with their inquiries.

Police are presently working to establish who owns all of the vehicles that have been seized. Detective Inspector Will Tate said: “We will now begin the task of identifying and locating owners of the vehicles seized to ascertain if they were in these premises lawfully or unlawfully.”
