A Co Tyrone student has pleaded guilty to having a large quantity of indecent images of children.
Shane Niall Corrigan, 21, of Shanco Road, Clogher, faced a total of 22 charges when he appeared in the dock of Belfast Crown Court on Monday.
He pleaded guilty to four counts of making indecent images of children on February 21, 2012, which were found on a USB flash drive.
The chemical engineering student also pleaded guilty to 18 counts of possessing indecent images of children on January 31, 2013, which were found on a laptop computer.
Prosecutor Gareth Purvis told deputy Belfast Recorder Judge Corinne Philpott QC that a total of 585 images were found by police.
He said that 33 of the images were in the most serious categories, level four and level five.
Mr Purvis added that the majority of images, totalling 542, were in the least serious category of level one.
A defence barrister asked for the preparation of a pre-sentence report and told the court a medical report from Corrigan’s doctor would be made available for sentencing.
Judge Philpott QC adjourned sentencing until September and released Corrigan on continuing bail.
