Woman assaulted by gang in Castlereagh

Police are appealing for information after a women in her twenties was assaulted by an unknown gang of males in the Castlereagh area of Belfast.

The assault took place in the Newtown Park/Cleveley Park area in the early hours of Wednesday.

Detectives said the attack, by an unknown group, took place between 3am and 4am.

A PSNI spokesman said the woman received injuries that are not believed to be serious.

Enquiries are continuing and police are asking anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area to contact them in Castlereagh on the non-emergency number 101 or anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
