Woman escapes hijacking attempt at Stranmillis

A woman has escaped a car hijacking attempt in the Stranmillis area of Belfast.

Detectives from Musgrave Reactive and Organised Crime Branch are appealing for information following the incident on the Stranmillis Road on Monday 20 February.

At around 4pm a woman was sitting in her car in a car park when she was approached by a man who attempted to gain entry to the car and take her keys.

The offender is described as being aged in his twenties, approximately 5’6” tall, with dark hair and was wearing a navy coloured hooded top. He made off in the direction of Cutters Wharf.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or information on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 824 of 20/2/17, or anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
