Tributes have been paid to television legend Larry Hagman following his death.
Best-known for playing the infamous JR Ewing in American soap Dallas, Mr Lagman passed away at the age of 81 on Friday after battling thraot cancer.
Channel Five had recently relaunched the soap, which originally ran for 13 seasons between 1978 and 1991.
A statement from the broadcaster said they were saddened to hear the news.
Richard Desmond, Chairman of Northern & Shell, paid tribute to “the ultimate professional”.
“He was a very good guy who I had the privilege of meeting a number of times, most recently when he, Linda and Patrick came to London to help launch Dallas on Channel 5.” he said. “He was very funny and made us all laugh. This is a very sad day for his family, friends and fans.”
Dallas is midway in production on Season 2 and the news of Hagman’s death will be incorporated into the storyline. In honour of Larry’s life and work, Channel 5 will be putting out an exclusive 30 minute programme: ‘A Tribute to Larry Hagman: At home with JR’. It will be screened on Sunday night at 9pm.
