The body of Danielle McLaughlin was returned to her mother, four sisters, family and friends on Monday night almost two weeks after she was murdered in India.

The funeral of the 28-year-old Buncrana woman will take place at 11am in St Mary’s Church, Cockhill on Thursday.

Her body was discovered on Tuesday, March 14, in the Canacona area of Goa. It is understood a 24-year-old man has since been charged with her murder.

Danielle’s remains were flown into Dublin on Friday, accompanied by friends Nicole Farren and Sherridan Smith.

The results of a post-mortem conducted in Goa revealed Danielle was strangled and sexually assaulted. However, a second post-mortem was carried out in Dublin on Friday at the request of her family.
