Dates for the latest major concert in Londonderry have been confirmed by MTV for the weekend of September 19-21.
Around 10,000 are expected to attend the event which will include headline acts.
Coverage of MTV Crashes Derry will be broadcast across MTV’s UK music TV channels - subsequently being shown across its European music channels in October.
Ebrington Square will also host a number of related events, including Club MTV DJs performing live sets, and a local concert is being staged by Derry City Council.
Tickets are due to be released on August 9. A successful MTV Crashes Plymouth event took place on July 15 in front of a crowd of 20,000.
Kerry Taylor of MTV UK said: “With one Crashes event already under our belt, we are delighted to be announcing details of our second. Londonderry is a fantastic city - steeped in history and named as 2013’s City of Culture, so we can’t wait to crash it. We look forward to working with local partners on the ground to stage a live music event that Derry won’t forget”.
The city’s mayor, councillor Brenda Stevenson said confirmation of the partnership with MTV for a major live music event was a huge coup for the city and a key element of the council’s legacy promise for Music City 2014.
“It promises to be a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our city to a national and international audience. With a full weekend of activity, there will be music to suit all age groups,” she said.
Foyle MP Mark Durkan has welcomed the main MTV event and said he was “also delighted for all of the local acts who will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of a global audience”.
