An election poster-free zone along the route of the Giro d’Italia has moved a step closer, according to the Environment Minister.

Mark H Durkan held “positive” and “useful” discussions with political parties on the issue yesterday. A statement afterwards said there was “widespread acceptance on a voluntary ban on election posters although there are some practicalities still to work through”.

The Giro d’Italia takes place from May 9-11 across Belfast, the Causeway Coast and Armagh before moving on to Dublin.
