More than 200 people are understood to have attended a rally on Friday to protest over the closure of Coleraine’s DVA centre – with the loss of 300 jobs.
Political representatives including DUP MP Gregory Campbell and SDLP MLA John Dallat were at the event which was described as “optimistic and hopeful” in its mood.
A NIPSA representative, and one of those who faces losing her job as a result of the closure, told the News Letter the rally was a huge success.
The employee, who did not wish to be named, said: “The message was very clear – the fight is not over, it will continue.”
UK Roads Minister Stephen Hammond announced last week that the centre would close as services are to be centralised in Swansea.
It is due to close in mid-July but staff said they had been told they can remain there until December
