'˜Beloved' principal Tony passes away

Broadbridge Primary School in Eglinton posted news of the death of their “beloved principal, colleague and friend” on their website.

SDLP Foyle MP, Mark Durkan, said: “The sad news of Tony McLaughlin’s death robs the North West of a great teacher, quiet leader and a proud champion of the community he served.

“Tony radiated a natural warmth for all his pupils, a sense of responsibility to other parents, and a proud regard for all of the staff in the Broadbridge school family which he led with such care.

“I offer sincerest condolences to Tony’s family, to all the pupils and staff at Broadbridge and also to all his past pupils.”

The funeral will take place at Star of the Sea Chapel on Wednesday.
