A 78-year-old woman has died after a two-vehicle road traffic collision.

The accident occurred on the Warrenpoint Road in Newry, and involved a silver Renault Clio and a Red Ford Focus.

It was reported to police at 2.15pm, and then this evening police announced the fatality.

Three others, two men and a woman, were taken to hospital.

It is not believed that their injuries are life-threatening.

The PSNI said in a statement: “Officers investigating this collision are keen to hear from witnesses and can be contacted at the Collision Investigation Unit by calling the non-emergency number 101”.
