Elderly lady dies in Co Armagh road accident

An 84-year-old woman has died after being struck by a lorry in Keady.

The victim – Ruby Nesbitt, who lived in the Keady area – was hit by a Scania lorry on Kinelowen Street in the centre of the south Armagh village.

The accident happened shortly before 10.10am, and police have just released details of it.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in the wake of the incident.

Officers investigating the collision continue to appeal for witnesses and can be contacted by calling the non-emergency number 101.

It was the second traffic-related fatality on the roads this morning, after a Citroen left the road on the outskirts of Ballyclare, Co Antrim, in the very early hours of the morning.

A man in his 20s, understood to be based in the area, died as a result.
