FANS of the wee man from Strabane are in for a treat when he joins forces with the biggest band in the country.
In a one-off BBC Radio Ulster concert, country will meet classical as Hugo Duncan performs a selection of his listeners’ favourite country songs with support from a very different type of backing band – the Ulster Orchestra.
At this extra-special ‘tea party’, in the Ulster Hall, Belfast, on Tuesday, November 13, Hugo will sing some very familiar songs but with a unique twist – each track will have been specially- arranged and be given new life by the Ulster Orchestra.
Joining Hugo at the concert will be singer and comedian Conal Gallen.
“This really is a dream come true for me. For the past decade I’ve said I’d love to do something with the Ulster Orchestra and was always met with a blank look, so it’s hard to believe this is really happening,” said Hugo.
“When BBC Radio Ulster confirmed it would be happening I honestly had tears in my eyes; it was totally unexpected and I’m delighted.
“It’s going to be a big task performing alongside the Ulster Orchestra but I’m going to go out there and give it my all and enjoy it and I hope the orchestra and audience enjoy it, too.”
