It is understood that a person has died following what police termed a “serious one vehicle road traffic collision” near Tempo, to the east of Enniskillen in Co Fermanagh.

During mid-afternoon on Sunday the PSNI said a vehicle had crashed on the Gardiners Cross Road near Maguiresbridge.

It is thought that the person who died was male.

It is believed a female was taken to hospital in Belfast.

There were no details about her condition.

UUP councillor Victor Warrington said it was “tragic”.

He added that the spot where it happened is “a bad corner” and that other accidents are believed to have happened there.

An eyewitness who arrived at the scene amid heavy rain about 20 minutes after the crash – who gave his name as Ian – said a white car had hit a tree.
