Tributes paid to inspirational cancer warrior Aundrea Ballantyne

More than 2000 tributes have poured in for cancer warrior Aundrea Ballantyne who passed away this morning.

The 42-year-old Dundonald woman was told she had terminal pancreatic cancer in July last year.

But she vowed to fight on for her sons James, 10, and Jack, 14.

With the assistance of thousands of a fundraising page - Aundrea's army - she found hope with a cancer treatment in a German clinic.

But, sadly, in recent months, she received the news that her condition would not improve.

This morning a post on her fundraising Facebook page said their "beautiful girl" had passed away.

"It's with a heavy heart we tell you our beautiful girl Aundrea lost her battle in the last hour. She will be missed by everyone but especially Mum Lorraine, Dad Richard , Brother Aaron and beautiful sons Jack & James.

"She fought with everything she had right until the end."

On Facebook tributes to the mother-of-two included: "So very sad. Thoughts are all Aundreas family & friends. Peace at last", "My Heart goes out to the Boys & All The Family & Close Friends....She was a fighter right to the end. Aundrea Mcelveen Bannatyne you are now at peace & no more Pain...My the Angels look after you & the boys. Rest in Peace " and " Tragic news to hear this morning. My heart goes out to her family xx".
