The Belfast Trust has recalled more than 1,100 patients who underwent bladder camera test/cystoscopy during the last two years ‘as a precautionary measure’, it emerged yesterday.
Trust medical director, Tony Stevens, said they have “identified a small number of cases where the standard of care was not what we would have expected and therefore we are offering these patients an appointment with a consultant to have the procedure repeated”.
He added: “I must stress, this is precautionary.”
SDLP MLA Fearghal McKinney last night urged any one who has been recalled by the trust for repeat tests to participate.
“Obviously for anyone contacted it is a worry, but the trust has been very clear this is just a precaution and we hope that is all it amounts to,” he said.
“In the meantime, I would urge everyone who is contacted by the trust to follow the instructions they are given so the matter can be resolved quickly.”
