The funeral takes place tomorrow of a Co Londonderry care worker who died in a road collision this week.

Leanne Dripps, 23, from the Upperlands area of Maghera was travelling to work when the crash happened on the Agivey Road in Kilrea at around 8.15am on Thursday morning.

Her funeral will take place tomorrow from her home at Drumbolg Road, Upperlands, to Culnady Presbyterian Church where the service will be conducted by the Rev Tom Conway.

Ulster Unionist councillor George Sheils knows the family well and had known Leanne’s late father, Loui.

“There is a great hushed shock in the community,” he said. “People are stunned that someone of that age died in a traffic accident.

“Everyone, neighbours and the wider community are really shocked and really feel for the family and the deep, deep hurt they are going through at the moment.”

He said the spot where she lost her life was “an accident black-spot”.

Bunches of flowers and written tributes to Leanne had been left at the scene of the crash yesterday.

Police said she was driving a silver coloured Seat Leon while the other car was a green Peugeot.

The other driver’s injuries were not life threatening.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
