A STAR-STUDDED team including former Northern Ireland internationals will turn out at Seaview this weekend for a fund-raising challenge match.
Keith Gillespie and Michael Hughes are included in the squad named for the Billy Hamilton Select side taking on Woodvale FC on Sunday at 3pm.
The match has been arranged in aid of Woodvale striker Clint Coleman who suffered multiple fractures to his skull following an accidental collision with an opposition player during an Amateur League fixture on October 6 last year.
The young player spent three weeks in a coma and, although he has since been released from hospital, the serious head injury has had a devastating impact on his everyday life.
Northern Ireland legend and World Cup hero Hamilton - assisted by former Distillery and Ards boss Bertie McMinn and Ballymena United manager Glenn Ferguson - have put together an impressive team sheet for the game, including no fewer than ten former internationals.
Woodvale FC has also organised a social evening in the Crusaders Social Club on Sunday which will include an auction event.
Among a number of items under the hammer is one of David Healy’s autographed Northern Ireland shirts donated by the record international goal scorer, and a pair of boxing gloves signed by newly-crowned European champion, Carl Frampton.
Snooker’s Rob Walker will act as compere for the evening supported by local broadcast celebrities Joel Taggart, Jackie Fullerton, Liam Beckett and Stephen Watson.
Billy Hamilton Select team sheet: Niall Currie, Mal Donaghy, Gary Smyth, John Devine, Brian Strain, Gerard Lyttle, Jamie Marks, Darren Murphy, Norman Kelly, Gavin Arthur, Tim McCann, Ian Stewart, Keith Gillespie, Michael Hughes, Stephen McBride, Rory Hamill, Gerard McMahon, Glenn Ferguson, Chris Morgan, George O’Boyle, Paul Millar.
Kick-off is 3pm on Sunday. Admission £3 at the turnstile.
