Let councillors decide on when to fly the flag

Letters

Letters

I WOULD like to thank Christopher Stalford (Letters, October 31) for mentioning me by name not once but six times in his recent letter on the subject of whether to fly the flag in line with Birmingham (as Alliance advocates) or Wavertree (as the DUP advocates).

I have to wonder how many mentions I would have got in a letter about an issue which actually affects his constituents’ future – say, local A&E facilities, potential withdrawal of benefits or the lack of a nearby school?

As for facts, suffice to say his grasp of them in his recent literature has not been sufficient to persuade any new converts to his case.

I will leave it to his fellow councillors to put him right when the issue comes before the City Council next month.

Ian James Parsley
