Adams to fight extradition

THE brother of Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams is to fight his extradition regarding alleged sexual abuse.

During a brief court appearance in Dublin on Wednesday, the barrister for Liam Adams revealed points of objection are expected to be lodged.

The 54-year-old is wanted in Northern Ireland to answer 18 charges of sexual abuse including rape, indecent assault and gross indecency against his daughter.

Aine Tyrell waived her right to anonymity last December to make the claims.

Adams initially appeared in court last week after a delay in issuing European Arrest Warrant.

The west Belfast native, who sat at the back of the courtroom with another daughter, argues media intrusion will ensure he does not receive a fair trial.

After Adams was remanded on continuing bail, it was announced he would appear again at Dublin High Court on April 21.
