Armed man is subdued by Taser
BELFAST: Police used a Taser gun on a robber armed with a knife in Belfast last night.
The 28-year-old man was subdued following an attempted armed robbery of a cash in transit van at a shopping centre in the Donegall Road area of the city.
A police spokesman said a specialist firearms unit was dispatched to the scene to deal with a man armed with a knife.
The armed man did not subsequently require hospital treatment after the Taser was deployed.
The Police Ombudsman has been informed of the incident as a matter of procedure.
