Executive tipped to make water charge move
THE Stormont Executive is expected to confirm the deferral of water charges for a further year as it meets for the first time in five months.
An economic aid package for the Province is expected to top the agenda for ministers reconvening on Thursday afternoon.
Other issues expected to be discussed are the recent policing and justice agreement progressive movement on rural planning policy.
The DUP and Sinn Fein confirmed earlier this week they had come to an agreement over the controversial issue of the devolution of policing powers to the local administration.
The issue had ensured virtual gridlock at Stoprmont Castle as the Executive failed to meet for over 150 days.
First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness confirmed on Tuesday the Executive would meet on a weekly basis until the resulting backlog is overcome.
An Executive delegation met the Prime Minister at Downing Street on Wednesday to appeal for financial support.
Meanwhile, it has been announced political leaders will travel to the US next month seeking to attract investment.
Mr Robinson and Mr McGuinness are expected to head up a delegation which will make the business trip to Washington.
The initiative comes a year after former First Minister Ian Paisley and Mr McGuinness made a similar excursion and follows on from a successful US investment conference in the Province in May.
