Facebook helps solve bike theft

AN APPEAL on social networking website Facebook has helped police in north Down track down a stolen bicycle.

Inspector Bobby Singleton, from Holywood PSNI station, said after the theft was reported by a pupil at Redburn Primary School on Friday, police began their investigation.

He said: "After receiving unconfirmed reports of sightings of the bicycle, it was decided to widen the appeal by placing a notice on the PSNI Holywood Facebook page. It wasn't long before someone pointed the investigating team in the right direction. The result was the bicycle was recovered at a property in the area on Monday."
