Female suffers broken jaw in taxi incident

A 25-YEAR-OLD female has suffered a broken jaw after an attack on a taxi in south Belfast.

The incident happened at Glenmachen Street at approximately 11pm on Wednesday evening.

A stone was thrown at the car, smashing the windscreen and hitting the woman on the face.

The victim was a passenger in the vehicle along with two female friends.

South Belfast Alliance representative Anna Lo condemned the attack as "appalling".

"People need to realise the very serious consequences that could come to pass if they throw stones at cars. These acts ruin lives and they must stop now," the MLA said.

Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the Glenmachen Street area and witnessed three to four hooded youths acting suspiciously.
