Fresh arrests over McDaid murder

A MAN and woman have been arrested in connection with sectarian violence in Coleraine.

A 20-year-old male and a 42-year-old female were detained in the Co Londonderry town on Monday morning.

Their arrests are linked to the sectarian murder of Catholic community worker Kevin McDaid and the attempted murder of Damien Fleming last month.

A mob of loyalists entered the Heights area of Coleraine following a row over flags.

A total of nine people have been charged in relation to the May 24 violence.

A police spokesperson confirmed the man and woman were assisting police with their inquiries.
