Irish state collusion in brief
The key allegations against the Irish state are that it:
* Planned the creation of the Provisional IRA to replace the Official IRA in Dublin, which threatened to overturn the Irish government with a 32-county socialist revolution.
* Supplied arms and cash to PIRA at the start of the Troubles on condition that it focused its aggression on ejecting the British presence from Northern Ireland.
* Provided a safe haven for PIRA members; 93 per cent of extradition requests by the UK were refused.
* Failed to disclose intelligence on key PIRA members sheltering south of the border to the UK security forces.
* Lost forensic evidence against PIRA in key cases, for example the Narrow Water bombings at Warrenpoint.
* Provided military training camps at the start of the Troubles for would-be PIRA members.
* Continues to neglect supplying historic Garda intelligence files to the PSNI Historical Enquiries Team.
