Man held in probe into rocket attack on police
DETECTIVES investigating the attempted murder of PSNI officers in Lisnaskea last weekend have carried out a search operation in Belcoo, Co Fermanagh.
A PSNI spokesman said at the same time - early yesterday - Gardai arrested a 31-year-old man in Blacklion in Co Cavan.
The man was taken to Monaghan Garda station for questioning.
Earlier it was revealed that semtex explosives formerly under the control of the Provisional IRA were used in the weekend murder attempt.
Dissidents tried to kill police officers with an improvised rocket-propelled grenade, which failed to launch.
The Semtex given to the IRA by Libyan leader Colonel Gadaffi was believed to have been destroyed when the Provisional IRA decommissioned its weaponry in 2005.
Deputy Chief Constable Paul Leighton said earlier this week that dissidents now have the substance and will use it in their campaign to kill PSNI officers.
Seven officers have been attacked in recent months with most incidents taking place in the west of the Province.
