Police say two masked and armed men entered the house in the Gullion View area of Meigh A man was during an attempted robbery in south Armagh last night at around 9pm.

They demanded money from the man before shooting him twice in the legs. The men left empty-handed and are believed to have made off in a vehicle.

The injured man was taken to Daisy Hill hospital in Newry where he is said to be in a stable condition.
