Men freed in probe into sheep farmer's death

Two men arrested by police investigating the murder of a sheep farmer four years ago have been released without charge.

The 26-year-old and 30-year-old were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Patrick Devine in September 2004.

A third man, a 63-year-old will appear in court in Londonderry next month to face charges of making threats to kill and firearms offences linked to an incident in the Claudy area of Co Londonderry in 2003.

Mr Devine, who was shot several times at close range, was found slumped over his dinner at his remote farmhouse outside Claudy in the Sperrin Mountains.

As well as running the large mountain sheep farm on which he lived alone, he worked as a psychiatric nurse.

The killing in September 2004 was featured on the BBC Crimewatch programme in June.
