Murder probe after body found in Lurgan
A murder inquiry has been launched after the body of a man was discovered at a property in Lurgan.
The man was found dead in the Mourneview estate in the early hours of yesterday morning. Police have said the man’s body was found at a residential premises at the Portlec Place area.
Detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch have launched a murder investigation, the PSNI announced yesterday.
One man aged 21 has been arrested in relation to the investigation. Last night he remained in custody helping police with their enquiries.
Forensic officers combed the scene for much of yesterday, even examining drains and a green space nearby.
Police have appealed for anyone who may have been in the Portlec Place area between Friday and Sunday morning and noticed anything that might help the investigation to contact officers on 0845 600 8000.
Craigavon DUP councillor Mark Baxter said the local community was shocked at the murder in what he described as a “quiet, residential area” and said his heart went out to the family of the victim.
He called on anyone with information to speak to police.
