Paisley's farewell - in pictures

AN audience of over 1,000 descended upon the King's Hall in Belfast to bid farewell to Ian Paisley.

The veteran MP stepped down as leader of the DUP - the party he founded - after 37 years at the helm.

A tribute was paid to the outgoing First Minister by leader designate, Peter Robinson, before Mr Paisley addressed the audience.

Later, 350 guests attended a special dinner in the adjacent Octagon Suite.
