Potter twins' spellbinding school visit
Two of the star characters from the Harry Potter films were in Northern Ireland yesterday to congratulate a group of prize-winning spellers.
James and Oliver Phelps – who play the red-haired Weasley twins, the older brothers of Harry's best pal Ron in the wizarding tales – popped in to see pupils at Greenisland Primary School.
The youngsters won the prize for being the top fundraising school in the UK in Mencap's Spellathon challenge last year.
The magical visit also marked the launch of this year's Spellathon.
The school raised nearly 5,000 for the learning disability charity and the money will help support Mencap projects in the Province.
Catherine Knox, Mencap's schools fundraising executive, said: "Spella-thon is a great, fun event for pupils to take part in.
"It is simple for teachers to organise and ties in naturally with the curriculum, including literacy and citizenship modules."
Any school in Northern Ireland can take part in Spellathon.
