Security alert in Armagh

ARMY technical officers are continuing to investigate a security alert in Armagh.

A suspicious object was reported in the Friar's Road area of the city on Thursday night, forcing some residents to be evacuated.

Although they have since been allowed to return to their homes, the security alert remains in place.

The alert comes as police revealed they have arrested two men in Armagh in relation to suspected dissident activity.

The arrests were made by detectives from the Serious Crime Branch.
