Town shocked after salon gun death

A MAN in his 20’s is understood to have taken his own life in a shooting incident at a hair salon in Dungannon.

It is reported the man, entered the hairdressers on Carland Road close to the town centre, at around 4.15pm

In a statement police said: “Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident but are not looking for anyone else in connection to this death.”

One witness, who passed the scene a short time after the shooting, said the salon was above a local supermarket, and close to the entrance of the former hospital.

“There were several police cars and there were also ambulance staff there.

“A young woman was standing at the bottom of the stairs to the salon and she seemed to be in a very, very distressed state,” the witness told the News Letter.

Fermanagh South Tyrone DUP MLA Maurice Morrow said the town was in shock: “It is a real, real tragedy.”
