Two children contract swine flu

TWO Ulster children have been confirmed with swine flu after returning from Mexico.

One of the children is a Primary two pupil at St Ronan's Primary School in Newry while the other is a younger sibling.

Both children, who were on a family holiday, have been given antivirals and are recovering at home.

There are now 32 confirmed cases of swine flu in Northern Ireland and 15 cases under investigation.

Seven cases, including the two children, have been confirmed since Friday evening. Six are travel related and one is a contact of a previously confirmed case in Ulster.

The Public Health Agency is following up any close contacts of these individuals.

St Ronan's Primary School is now set to close two days ahead of its scheduled summer holidays as a precautionary measure.

Pupils and some staff in the same class as the child are being offered antivirals.
